German numismatist. Born Frankfurt 22. 7. 1897, died Stockholm 30. 8. 1972. 1916 Abitur, then military service. From 1918, studied architecture in Darmstadt, from 1921 classical archaeology, ancient history and history of art at Munich, spending one term in Berlin with Kurt Reglingin 1922. 1924 doctorate at Munich with Paul Wolters for a numismatic study [1]. Thereafter assistant at the Städtisches Maximilianmuseum in Augsburg. 1932/33 DAI travel bursary. Took part in excavations on the Kerameikos in Athens…
