Stephanus, Henricus

Estienne, Henri; French printer, publisher and author. Born Paris 1528 (?), died Lyon 1598. Attended lectures at the Collège Royal in Paris. 1547 first journey to Italy (and England). 1559 took over the printing officium of his father Robertus Stephanus in Geneva (in addition to his officium in Paris). Restless nomadic life from the 1580s, ending with his lonely death in a hospital in Lyon.
