Estienne, Robert; French printer, publisher and lexicographer. Born 1503 (?) in Paris, died Geneva 7. 9. 1559. From 1520 successor to his father Henri as head of his Paris officium, at first jointly with Simon de Colines, from 1526 alone. 1539 imprimateur et libraire des hebraiques et latines du Roy; 1550 moved to Geneva and converted to Calvinism, founding a new officium there.
