German Humanist and philologist. Born Oettingen im Ries 13. 8. 1516, died Augsburg 8. 10. 1580. 1527–1538 and 1548 studied (with interruptions) at Nuremberg, Tübingen, Wittenberg and Strasbourg. 1539–1550 various teaching posts in Oettingen, Mühlhausen (Thuringia), Nuremberg and Basel. From 1551 librarian to the Fuggers and rector of the Annagymnasium in Augsburg.
