Wilhelm Holtzmann; German Humanist and philologist. Born Augsburg 26. 12. 1532, died Heidelberg 10. 2. 1576. Studied Artes and philosophy at Tübingen and Basel; 1557/58 doctorate from Basel. From 1558 prof. of Greek, from 1562 of logic at the Univ. of Heidelberg. Joined forces with Ulrich Zwingli. 1564/65 rector of the Univ. of Heidelberg.
