Polish-Russian classical philologist and cultural historian. Born Tadeusz Stefan Z., Kiev, 14. 9. 1859, died Schondorf am Ammersee, 8. 5. 1944. 1876–1880 studied classical philology at Leipzig, 1880/81 in Munich and Vienna. 1881 doctorate in Leipzig; from 1883 master’s in St. Petersburg; 1885 second doctorate at Dorpat. 1887 prof. ext. in St. Petersburg, 1890 prof. ord. in Greek studies there. Emigrated to Poland 1921; 1921–1935 prof. ord. in Warsaw; 1935–1939 honorary prof. there.
