The  oracular sanctuary at Phocian Delphi (Greek Delphoí, also Pythṓ), sacred to  Apollo, together with  Olympia (2.5.11.), was already the most important Panhellenic cult site by the Archaic Period at the latest. A sanctuary already existed at Delphi by the Mycenaean Period, and the evidence of some exceptional finds suggest that it was considerably important.
