The modern geographical term ‘northern Arabia’ describes approximately the northernmost third of the Arabian Peninsula (BNP Atlas 55). It is preferable in the interests of precise location to use the terms ‘northwestern Arabia’ (the Hijaz/Heğaz) and ‘northeastern Arabia’ (southern Syrian Desert and northwestern Persian Gulf).
