City in southern  Samnium in a loop of the Volturnus at the foot of mons  Tifernus , modern Alife. Minting in the 1st half of the 4th cent. BC. Entangled in the Samnite Wars (building of walls at the foot of Monte Cila). Founding of a  colonia with triumviri (CIL IX p. 264).
