Angitia
(80 words)

[German version]

Goddess of the Marsi, after whom Lucus Angitia (Verg. Aen. 7,759) on the shore of Lake Fucinus is named. Servius' interpretation is as poor as his etymology (Aen. 7,750). A. was regarded as a goddess helpful especially against poisonous snakes, as is evident from Verg. Aen. 7,750 and Gellius in Solin.2,27 ff. The name in Paelignian is Anaceta, Anceta, Anacta; in Oscan, Anagtia.
