Celtic tribe, once the most important in Gallia (Liv. 5,34); their name means ‘eternal rulers’. Neighbours to the Haedui and Carnutes, subjugated by Caesar (Caes. B Gall. 7,12-28: capture of Noviodunum and  Avaricum, pillage of more than 20 towns). A distinction is made between the B. Cubi (Str. 4,2,1; Plin.
