(Κητώ; Kētṓ). Daughter of Pontus and Gaia. By her brother Phorcys, she gives birth to the Graeae, the Gorgons ( Gorgo), and Echidna and the serpent who guards the golden apples of the Hesperides (Hes. Theog. 238; 270-336; Apollod. 1,10; 2,37); according to a later version the Hesperides are also her daughters (schol. Apoll. Rhod. 4,1399).
