Town (possibly Volscian) on the mare Tyrrhenum below the mons Circeius, on the southern border of Latium, modern San Felice C. (Latina province). Tarquinius Superbus supposedly founded C. and Signia as a colony but the coloni were expelled by Coriolanus (Liv. 1,56,3; 2,39). In 393 BC C. was a colonia Latina.
