Clanis
(81 words)

[German version]

Right tributary of the Tiber in Etruria, modern Chiana (Str. 5,3,7; App. B Civ. 1,89), flows south of Arezzo (Plin. HN. 3,54) and joins the Paglia near Orvieto. In AD 15  Florentia objected to the plan of uniting the Clanis with the Arno to prevent flooding of the Tiber even though it was endangered by Arno floods (Tac. Ann. 1,76; 1,79; Cass. Dio 57,14).
