[1] Companion of Aeneas

Companion of  Aeneas (Verg. Aen. 1,222; 1,612; 12,460). As a skipper he took part in the regatta in honour of Anchises (Verg. Aen. 5,114f.; Hyg. Fab. 273). The patrician house of the Geganii, was, according to Servius (Aen. 5,117) descended from him, although this is probably a later fabrication.
