(Ὄλτος; Óltos). Attic vase painter of the late Archaic period, active around 525-500 BC; approximately 150 vessels (mainly cups) have been identified as his work. O. trained in the workshop of Nicosthenes (kyathos signed by the potter Nicosthenes). Initially he specialized in bilingual eye cups (Bilingual vases) with a black-figured image on the interior and red-figured images on the exterior with a single figure located between large eyes and handle palmettes.
