(Φώκαια/Phṓkaia). One of the twelve Ionian cities on the western coast of Asia Minor, modern Foça, founded by settlers from Phocis (Hdt. 1,146; Str. 14,1,3; Nicolaus of Damascus FGrH 90 F 51). The most recent excavations show a settlement from as early as the 2nd millennium BC.
