Son of Thestius, brother of Althaea; participant in the Calydonian Hunt; P. is killed by his nephew Meleager , because he intended to steal from Atalante the pelt of the Calydonian boar, which Meleager had given her (Apollod. 1,62; Ov. Met. 8,305; 434; 440; Hyg. Fab. 173; 174; 244).
