(Πυρηνεύς/Pyrēneús). Mythical king from Daulis in Phocia, who invites the Muses to his palace, ostensibly to offer them shelter from a storm. When he is about to violate them there, they escape by flying away. P. dies in pursuing them (only Ov. Met. 5,274-93).
