T. V. Spurinna. Senator, possibly homo novus, probably of Etruscan origin, but according to [2. 542] rather from an Etruscan family that had migrated to Transpadana. Born in c. AD 25, since, according to Plin. Ep. 3,1,10, in c. 101 he had completed his 78th year. He entered the Senate no later than under Nero [1]. In 69 he was appointed by Otho a commander in the battle with the followers of Vitellius [II 2] (Tac. Hist. 2,11; 18 f.; 23; 36). The tradition after that is silent until the year 97.
