Monumental exhibition of Judaica objects based on the idea and division of the Anglo-Jewish exhibit of 1887 [#6, #7]. Includes ceremonial objects from London synagogues and private homes, rare books and manuscripts, portraits and prints pertaining to English Jewish history, and the previously-unrepresented category “Works of contemporary Jewish artists” (mostly, but not exclusively, English). Includes synagogue objects from the Sassoon Collection, books and manuscripts from the Adler and Gaster collections, and prints from the Israel Solomons Collection. Brief descriptions. 1,688 items. |
