Description

A comprehensive, monumental survey of religious art in the Netherlands, with separate sections on Catholic, Protestant and Jewish religious art. More than one hundred Jewish ceremonial objects and illuminated manuscripts listed and briefly discussed on pp. 27–41 (cat. nos. 1–93), and 217–219 (cat. nos. 898–923), according to medium. This section was organized by the Jewish communities of ’s-Hertogenbosch and Amsterdam, with exhibits lent by Jewish organizations and individuals. Descriptions by Jeremias Hillesum, librarian of the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana. Basic listings, according to medium. 961 items.
