Description

A two-part exhibition of 15th–16th-century printed Hebrew books. Part I: “The Flowering of Jewish Thought in the Sixteenth Century Represented by a Selection of Sixteenth-Century Hebrew Books” represented the intellectual and geographical diversity of Jewish thought in this century; Part II: “Selections from a Sixteenth-Century ‘Scholar’s Library’: Hebrew Classics Printed in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries” included volumes printed in the first half-century or so of Hebrew printing, texts which were likely to be in the libraries of 16th-century Jewish scholars. No itemized listing.

The exhibition was arranged in conjunction with an international colloquium, “Jewish Thought in the Sixteenth Century”, sponsored by the Center for Jewish Studies, Harvard University, 7–9 January 1980.
