Photographs and documents illustrating the history and annihilation the Jewish community of Hennef-Geistingen. Exhibition in three main sections. The first section, “Die Voraussetzungen” [Makings] includes a brief history of the Jewish community of Hennef since the Middle Ages (Helmut Fischer), a discussion of the community and synagogue in Geistingen, and numerous exhibits related to Hermann Levy (presented as an example of a Jewish citizen active in both Hennef’s Jewish and non-Jewish communities). The second section, “Die ‘Durchfuhrung’ ” [Execution] presents documents related to Kristallnacht in Hennef. The final section, “Die Folgen” [Consequences] recounts the deportation and eradication of Hennef’s Jewish community. Most exhibits illustrated (pp. 20–55). Descriptive entries. 50 items. |
