The role of Venice during the 16th–18th C, and its influence on the Portuguese Jews of Amsterdam. Foreword by Judith C.E. Belinfante. Six essays on the Venetian ghetto’s establishment, economy, inhabitants, relationship with the outside, and influence of Venetian Jews on their Dutch brethren.
