Description

The first comprehensive exhibition on the material culture and traditions of Azerbaijan’s Jews and Muslims. Part I dedicated to the Jewish population, which lived for centuries in the mountains of the eastern Caucus. Individual essays on the community’s history (Gershon Ben-Oren), literature (Michael Zand), ketubbot (Shalom Sabar), music and musical instruments (Nina Benzoor), embroidery and patchwork (Bat-Sheva Drimer), and kalghai (scarves worn for modesty) (Dalit Thon).
