Publication accompanying a monumental exhibition on the Rothschild family and their activities, presented on the 250th anniversary of Meyer Amschel Rothschild’s birth, and the 1200th anniversary of the city of Frankfurt. Preface by Jacob Rothschild. Exhibition in five main sections, focusing on: Mayer Amschel Rothschild’s rise from the Frankfurt Judengasse, the family’s success in five European cities, their carefully-constructed self-image (and negative portrayal in the press), business activities, support of Jewish settlement in Palestine and the State of Israel, persecution by the Nazis, and contribution to the development of the city of Frankfurt in the 19th C. Unnumbered itemized listing in companion volume. Several hundred items.
