An exhibition that followed the footsteps of Nathan Mayer Rothschild from Frankfurt to Manchester and then to London, and recalled his connections throughout Europe. Chronology of his life, followed by 7 essays on his character, the Jewish ghetto in Frankfurt (Fritz Backhaus), his time in Manchester and London, Rothschild’s relationship to London Jewry, Mrs. Rothschild, and Rothschild as an owner of paintings (Michael Hall). Catalog of exhibits arranged by city, chronologically. Its final sections are on Nathan’s death, and thereafter. Detailed descriptive entries. 214 items.
