A monumental exhibition on medieval Jewry focusing on its two major centers—the Ashkenazic communities along the Rhine, and the Sephardic communities on the Iberian Peninsula. 8 essays, including those on: the Jews under Castilian rule 11–15th C (Javier Castaño), the Jewish communities along the Rhine (Werner Transier), Jewish Speyer and its medieval synagogue (Renate Engels, Pia Heberer), and Jewish art in the Middle Ages (Markus Wener). Catalog of exhibits in 3 sections, each with introductory text and detailed descriptive entries: Jewish Life in Antiquity, Religious Life, Jews in the Social Life of the Middle Ages. 172 items.

The exhibition marked the 900th anniversary of the dedication of the medieval synagogue in Speyer.
