Jewish Museum in Prague (26 October 2006–28 January 2007)

Torah scrolls and binders from Bohemia and Moravia that survived the Holocaust and were preserved in the Jewish Museum of Prague during the Nazi and Communist regimes. Many were purchased in 1963 by an anonymous English philanthropist. Those that could be repaired were later distributed throughout the world to congregations in need. Those deemed unusable are today housed in a small museum at Kent House. Extensive essay details this history, and the current location of many scrolls, according to the communities from which they came. No itemized listing.
