Description

Jewish customs and ceremonies as depicted in 16th–20th-century prints collected by Harry and Branka Sondheim. Exhibits organized chiefly around life cycle events and holidays, with additional sections on daily life, Jews at work, and artists. Introductions to the exhibit, the Sondheim Collection (recently acquired by the Newberry Library), and the specific types of material it contains. Texts on early customs books and their authors, individual holidays, the Haggadah, the Synagogue, select artists, etc. 106 exhibits. No itemized listing.
