Description

The works of three Jewish artists, all raised in Modern Orthodox homes, who “walk freely in the secular realm of art and design”. Grounded in Jewish tradition, each offers fresh interpretations of age old traditions and objects in a provocative, humorous, whimsical, and sometimes irreverent spirit. These works were set within the museum’s permanent gallery of traditional ceremonial objects, thus creating a dialogue between the old and the new, and offering the viewer a new way of looking at traditional objects and Jewish ideas. Foreword by Galia Bar Or. Essay, “Lipstick on Torah Scroll” by David Sperber. Basic entries. 37 items.
