Description

The shofar as an integral and everlasting part of Jewish history, faith and tradition. Catalog in two sections, the first examining the zoology and anatomy of the animal horn itself, and the second illuminating the history, iconography and function of the shofar in Judaism, from ancient to modern times. Among the essays are “The Shofar in Medieval Jewish Thought and Art” and “The Shofar in the Modern Period, 18th–20th C” (both by Shalom Sabar).
