Description

The second installment of an exhibition focusing on Jewish communities that migrated to Germany post-World War II. This segment addressed the Jewish migrants from the former Soviet Union and its successor states. Unlike their more transient Eastern European predecessors (discussed in the first exhibition), these immigrants embraced Germany as their new homeland, and now form the country’s Jewish majority. Foreword by Bernhard Purin. Introduction by the curators. Individual memories/testimonies by immigrants from the Ukraine, Russia, Moldavia, Uzbekistan, Romania, etc. The exhibition’s final section displayed 211 examples of Jewish graphics from the art collection of Julius Genss, fragments of which migrated from Tallinn, Estonia to Munich with Genss’ granddaughter. No itemized listing.
