Description

Exceptional, hand-embroidered wedding gowns inspired by artifacts from Beit Hatfutsot. The gowns were produced by third-year students from the Fashion Department at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. Each student was instructed to explore the core exhibition of the Museum, choose a Jewish community, and present it in a personal narrative through their design. Exhibited alongside the finished products were research materials compiled by the students, sketches representing their inspirations for the design, textile samples, artifacts, etc. Statement by each artist. 14 wedding gowns. No itemized listing of other exhibits.

The exhibition was a joint project of Israel Friends of Beit Hatfutsot and the Fashion Department at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.
