78 highlights from the Library’s outstanding Hebraica Collection, illustrating the diversity of the Collection and the main types of manuscripts that have shaped Jewish manuscript culture. Most examples are in Hebrew, with a few in Aramaic, Judeo-Arabic or Yiddish. A selection of printed books, including five incunabula from the Levy Collection, were also displayed. Introduction by Irina Wandrey. “History of the Hebraica Collection” by Hans-Walter Stork. Exhibits presented in 12 sections, principally according to content: Bible, Commentaries, Halacha and Aggada, Literature and Daily Life, Prayer Books, Haggadot and Megillot Esther, Ketubbot and Mohel Books, Kabbalah and Magic, Philosophy, Mathematics and Medicine. Two sections devoted to: Technical Analylsis of Manuscripts, and Hebrew Binding Fragments. In-depth entries for each exhibit, by various authors. 78 items.
