Selection of the Library’s most important works in Hebrew or a Hebrew language and relating to Judaism and the Jews. Material presented in six sections: Bible, Liturgy, Ritual and Homiletics, Hebrew Language, Didactic Literature, Josephus and Philo of Alexandria, and Anti-Jewish Polemic. While most of the Collection’s Hebrew works were produced by Christian Hebraists for a Christian audience, others were produced by Jews in order to meet the religious needs of Spanish and Portuguese Marranos who were returning to Judaism.
