Description

A chronological history of Jewish Warsaw, presented largely through an analysis of its social topography. The exhibition highlighted six different areas of the city, each with its own particular atmosphere and inhabited by different social groups: townspeople, progressive intelligentsia, petty producers, recent immigrants, etc. In focusing on these areas, and a number of specific individuals who represent them, the exhibition showed both how Jews shaped Warsaw and how Warsaw influenced Jews. Extensive text, profusely illustrated with historical photographs and documents. Basic listing. 78 items.
