An exhibition of the Jüdisches Kulturmuseum Augsburg-Schwaben that temporarily re-united objects created for and in relation to the Kriegshaber Synagogue. Held in the former synagogue itself (in the Kriegshaber suburb of Augsburg) the exhibition offered these objects as silent witnesses, carriers of memories, to four centuries of Jewish life in Kriegshaber. Foreword by Benigna Schönhagen. Introduction by Felicitas Heimann-Jelinek and Benigna Schönhagen. Three catalog essays: “Memory and Commemoration in Judaism” (Micha Brumlik), “Jewish Life in the Augsburg Region” (Sabine Ullmann) and “The Power of Memory” (William L. Gross). Extensive catalog entries, including the “travel history” of each object as it was moved from city to city over time. 20 items. |
