Nimrud Prisms D & E (2.118D)
(551 words)

Subject: Monumental Inscriptions from the Biblical World; Akkadian Monumental Inscriptions; Building and Display Inscriptions; Neo-Assyrian Inscriptions

A number of fragmentary clay prisms were discovered in excavations at Nimrud in 1952–53. These fragments form two prisms: D, comprised of ND 2601 + 3401 + 3417, and E, comprised of ND 3400 + 3402 + 3408 + 3409.1 These two prisms are duplicate and fortunately allow restoration of a more continuous text. Most of the column translated here comes from prism D.
