This seal was found in controlled excavations at Beer-Sheba in the Negev (Israel). There is no indication as to how it got there, but the seal owner’s father is either identical with or at least a namesake of Hadad-idri, king of Damascus in the ninth century,1 and the script of the inscription would be compatible with that time.
