Ashmad, a merḫûm,1 sent this letter to Zimri-Lim. Ashmad is mentioned in A. 3152+M.5665+ (4.51), where he is said to have supported the king on his military campaigns into the land of Shubartum. In this letter, however, Ashmad described his plan for raiding the flocks of Ishme-Dagan, the son of Shamshi-Adad.
