Shimatum was Zimri-Lim’s daughter, whom he had married to Haya-Sumu, the king of Ilan-ṣura. In this letter, Shimatum wrote to her father about the activities of her husband, Haya-Sumu. According to Shimatum, Haya-Sumu planned to capture Shubat-Enlil, the former capital of Shamshi-Adad. Shimatum recounted events similar to those found in Sumu-hadu’s letter above (FM 2.116 [4.60]), although she seems to indicate that Haya-Sumu and Turum-natki had joined together in a political alliance.
