I. Name

The plural noun kĕzābîm ‘lies’ without any pronominal suffix is attested 10 times in the Hebrew Bible independent of any association with gods, demons or idolatry. It is widely held, however, that the form kizbêhem (‘their lies’ with third person plural pronominal suffix) in Amos 2.4, is employed there as a dysphemism referring to gods.
