Abū Saʿīd al-Rustamī

Abū Saʿīd al-Rustamī, Muḥammad b. Muḥammad al-Rustamī al-Iṣfahānī, was an Arabic poet at the court of al-Ṣāḥib b. ʿAbbād (326–385/937–995), and a contemporary of Abū Manṣūr al-Thaʿālibī. Almost all the surviving poems and information relating to this poet are to be found in a few pages of al-Thaʿālibī's Yatīmat al-dahr (al-Thaʿālibī, 3/205–207, 221–222, 300–319). The one or two other poems by Abū Saʿīd al-Rustamī, and the snippets of information about him in other sources (see al-Māfarrūkhī, 57, 73; Ibn Saʿīd, 43), reveal that there may origin…
