al-Ḥasan b. Nūh al-Qamarī

al-Ḥasan b. Nūh al-Qamarī al-Bukhārī, Abū Manṣūr, a Persian physician of the 4th/10th century who served several rulers of the Sāmānid dynasty (r. 204–395/819–1005).

There are few details about al-Qamarī’s date of birth and his life. His appellation ‘al-Qamarī’ (sometimes written ‘al-Qumrī’) suggests that he was originally a native of Kamarah, a town in the vicinity of Bukhārā (al-Baghdādī, 11). He was court physician to the Sāmānid prince, al-Manṣūr (r. 350–365/961–976) (Brockelmann SI/424–425).
