ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn, Abū al-Ḥasan (d. 10 Muḥarram 61/12 October 680), the son of al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī (third Shiʿi imam), known as ʿAlī Akbar (Abū al-Faraj al-Iṣfahānī, 80).

His mother, Laylī (or Āmina), was the daughter of Abū Murra, who was the son of ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd al-Thaqafī, one of the Prophet’s Companions (Rassān, 127; al-Zubayrī, 57; Ibn Saʿd, 17; al-Ṭabarī, 5/446, 468; al-Mufīd, al-Irshād, 2/106; al-Balādhurī, 3/361; cf. Ibn Ḥajar, 4/238).
