A distinguished Sufi and scholar affiliated to the Suhrawardiyya order, he is also mentioned by such titles and epithets as shaykh al-shuyūkh al-muḥaqqiqīn, kahf al-wāṣilīn and imām a⁠ʾimmat al-dahr (Waṣṣāf, 193; Zarkūb Shīrāzī, 177).
