Ḥikmat was the first Persian-language newspaper to be published in the Arab world. It was published in Cairo between 28 Ṣafar 1310/21 September 1892 and 1 Jumādā II 1329/30 May 1911 (although these dates have been misrecorded in several sources, see Kuhan, 1/166; Tarbiyat, 409).
