, (for the vocalisation, see the preceding article), fak̲h̲r al-dīn abū sulaymān dāwūd b. abiʾl-faḍl muḥammad , Persian poet and historian (d. 730/1329-30). According to his own account, he was made malik al-s̲h̲uʿarāʾ , or “king of poets”, in 701/1301-2 by the Mongol ruler of Persia, G̲h̲āzān Ḵh̲ān. Dawlats̲h̲āh ( Tad̲h̲kira , ed. Browne, 227) records one of his poems.
